Bladesmithing Workshops 2021
Please note that if you have emailed an enquiry and have not had a reply from me, it has almost certainly gone missing in the aether - feel free to email us direct on or text on 07367 581288 and I'll return your message as soon as I am able.
At present, we offer herbalism and bladesmithing workshops most months, dates for which can be found below. For more information and prices, please scroll down past the dates. Please note that there is room for two people per workshop and both attendees will need to be making the same kind of knife, so subjects for each date may change as we get bookings.
We have sadly recently left Craft Courses website but will hopefully soon be adding a testimonial page and a students gallery so you can get a rough idea of what you will be experiencing if you should choose to join us.
For a bit of an idea what to expect, a recent lovely student took a little video of his workshop, which can be found on YouTube.
We are delighted to announce that we can now take groups of up to six for axe making workshops - a great idea for groups of friends, stag dos or family sessions!
Dates for 2021
At present, we can offer any and all weekends up until the end of March, not including the first weekend in January. We can also offer mid week courses in some cases so if a weekend doesn't work for you, don't panic!
More Information - Bladesmithing Workshops
Two day sessions include the following topics – chef knife, bowie knife, bushcraft knife, seax, or pattern welded jewellery where you will make a pattern welded billet and turn it into a pendant and hopefully a twisted wrist cuff as well. We currently have room for two people per weekend doing these subjects. These workshops cost £300 per person and we ask for a £100 deposit upon booking.
Three day sessions include a choice of pattern welded blade where you will create your own billets of pattern welded steel which will then be turned into a finished knife, complete with blade and handle. Choices here include chef knife, bushcraft knife, seax or bowie. The second option is to make a knife from start to finish including an etched pattern, and then make a tooled sheath to fit it, so that you will go home with a completed blade including sheath. These workshops cost £450 per person and we ask for a £150 deposit upon booking.
Axe making sessions last two days, and we currently have room for up to six people per workshop, with a slight discount for group bookings, so if you’d like to bring along a group, why not get in touch? We ask for a £100 deposit per person to secure the date.
From March we will also be taking bookings for two day tool making workshops where you will make a draw knife and a set of chisels suitable for woodworking. These sessions cost £300 and we will require a £100 deposit upon booking.
Lunch, tea and coffee is provided with all booked dates, and we will very happily provide you with local B&B suggestions upon request.
Herbal medicine, wild food and sheath making workshops are also available upon request.
Food and drink is provided - we'll be in touch before the workshop to sort out food that you will enjoy eating, and will gladly cater to varied dietary requirements given enough advance warning.
We are insured to teach ages 14 upwards though please be aware that between age 14 and 18, a parent will need to book on as well as adolescents will need a parent with them.
We are based on the very edge of North Lincolnshire - for more information on where we are, do get in touch via the contact page. I'll gladly provide you with a list of good local B&Bs if you want to stay locally!
Sessions run from 9am til roughly 5pm though this varies depending on the student - some finish early, others finish later, so please do bear this in mind when booking.
